No Safe Harbor - Book Review and 2 GIVEAWAYS!!!! (one from ME!!)

Cara, who lost both parents, travels alone to America in search of her twin brother whom she also thought was dead...until she received a letter stating just the opposite.  With the help of the ship's captain, she finds a place to live, a job and friends.  However, she is leary of sharing any information about herself and keeps the secret of having a brother because of his warnings.

Slowly secrets begin to come to light as she hunts for her brother.  Her greatest help comes in the form of Rourke, a man who is actually wanting to carry out his revenge on Cara's sister once they find him.  She must begin to decide who she can truly trust.  And will she find her brother?
This book was a very enjoyable read.  Romances based in early America have always been interesting to me and this one did not disappoint.  Cara, Rourke, Amelia and other characters were well developed and easy to get to know.  You could almost imagine yourself on the early streets of New York and the author did a good job of incorporating the difficulties that followed the Irish immigrants over to America.  Plus, she's from my neck of the woods!  Very cool ;-)

I suggest you pick up this book for a light but fun historical romance to read over the holidays. You will not regret it :-)  And if you keep can enter to get a copy from me for free!!

About the Book:
She came to America searching for her brother. Instead all she's found is a web of danger.
Cara Hamilton had thought her brother to be dead. Now, clutching his letter, she leaves Ireland for America, desperate to find him. Her search leads her to a houseful of curious strangers, and one man who claims to be a friend-Rourke Walsh. Despite her brother's warning, Cara trusts Rourke, revealing her purpose in coming to New York.

She's then thrust into a world of subterfuge, veiled threats, and attempted murder, including political revolutionaries from the homeland out for revenge. Her questions guide her ever nearer to locating her brother-but they also bring her closer to destruction as those who want to kill him track her footsteps.

With her faith in tatters, all hope flees. Will her brother finally surface? Can he save Cara from the truth about Rourke... a man she's grown to love?

  1. Hello, my dear froggy friend! I have been faithfully making my bed and it makes for a much happier me! :-) My boys are doing the same - not quite an independent habit for them yet. They still need me to remind them.

  2. Confused about the cleaning habits and book post being mixed together. That being said, made bed and clean sink = happier household ... and more time to sit peacefully and read. This book looks good. Thanks for posting!
