Resurrect - Book Review and Kindle Fire Giveaway!!

Resurrect is not my "typical" pick up and read kind of book...but I am SOOOO glad I did!  It's a bit out there, a bit "what if" and completely absorbing.

Josh Logan makes the honorable and life-altering decision to crash the fighter plane he is flying in order to avoid running into a neighborhoodAfter the crash, he is given the chance by a voice, and what he believes is a team of professionals, to save the human race. His identity is physically altered and when he wakes he finds himself in a hospital with no idea of what his identity "should" be at this point.  He and Elizabeth, the nurse who befriends him in the Kansas hospital, begin following the plans laid out by the voice. What they are facing is huge...

This book was surprisingly good.  It is more the kind of story my husband would enjoy so I was a little leary as I began reading but I was pulled in quickly. The only thing I might have skipped over a bit was the actual scientific parts of the book, not all of them, just some because that's just not my thing ;-)  However, I know the author is very interested in the physics/spirituality aspect of things in life.  I myself was pulled in more by the characters and the possibilities that are open to you when you let yourself be that in tune spiritually with God.  How amazing.

I would definitely suggest you read this book if you are interested in the "what if's" of a life with God :-)

About the Book:
Book 1 in the Resurrect Trilogy.

Preventing his burning fighter from crashing into a neighborhood, Navy Commander Josh Logan ejects ... too late.

Critically injured, he's offered a new life and mission exploit highly classified military technology to stop a global cataclysm. The price? He'll be dead to everyone he knows.
He wakes in a city hospital with a genetically enhanced body and no identity. With the help of his brilliant, Neuro ICU nurse, and guided by nothing but a voice, he must infiltrate the military-industrial complex to develop the world's most powerful weapon ... to protect humanity?

November's Clean-Up Habit (#2)

Hello Purple Frog friends! (all 15 of you who read this blog? lol!).

So, and be honest with me because there is NO judging here, how is your October habit of Making your Bed daily going? Are you at least making it 5 out of 7 days? I hope so, I promise, it will become second nature faster than you realize, just keep it up.  If you are doing it...are you beginning to enjoy the feel of getting into a made bed every night?  Just seems more welcoming, doesn't it?

Seems with all of the toys in my front room and the fact that my little one's room isn't done (so I can put up all of his stuff)...I have chosen a habit for November than can be done regardless of your floor clutter. Dusting.
What? You don't like to dust? Seriously? Yea, me neither. However, I'm not asking you to dust your whole house daily or even weekly or monthly. I'm also not asking you to dust an entire room daily or weekly.

Here is what I'm asking...grab your choice of weaponry, I mean...dusting tools, and dust two things a day. That's it. And seeing as how my camera has disappeared for the 3rd time this month (ok, so I lose things...frequently...), I have no home pics to share, but I started with the ceiling fan and the two bedside lamps in my bedroom. That's it. The next day I dusted my son's tv and video game consols. See? Easy!!
I don't have any magic tools.  I use a swiffer brush on lamps, pictures, etc...  On ceiling fans and furniture I  use a rag with Method's wood cleaner (I LOVE the smell of this stuff).  I haven't tried the whole pillowcase thing seen on pinterest, but might sometime.  I just don't really have an extra pillowcase and can't bring myself to use one we actually sleep on.  Please share any dusting tools or tips you have!!

The way I see it...2 things a day, 6 days a week (even 7 if you skip 10 minutes of your Sunday nap), you will pretty much have a decently dusted home every month!  (Unless you have rough cedar for your ceilings, then it's never completely dusted, but I digress...)

So, keep making those beds daily (or at least 5 days a week) and let's start that dusting habit!!

Pink Warriors...

As many of you who have visited this blog probably know, I participated in the Susan G. Komen 3Day for the Cure last week. This was my 5th year to be involved and it never fails to encourage, inspire, bring me to tears, amaze me and of course, hurt my feet ;-)

I signed up 5 years ago for two was non-selfish, the other completely selfish.  My non-selfish reason(s), my grandmother and my aunt.  My maternal grandmother, was a breast cancer survivor, for as long as I can remember she only had one breast due to mastectomy.  My maternal aunt, whom I was as close to as any niece could be, passed away in her early 50's from 3 kinds of cancer while I was in college.  While she didn't have breast cancer, I feel raising money for any cancer research helps them all.  My selfish that time, I felt like I needed something bigger in my life, I felt like I wasn't making any kind of impact except with my family (which I now realize is the biggest impact I can have, but I digress...).  So I signed up and I've been signing up ever since.

True beauty...watching a survivor hobble in after walking 60 miles with tears in her eyes yet the biggest smile on her face.
True devotion...a husband walking for his wife while she recovers from her chemotherapy.  True determination...a man in his service fatigues walking with his wife, all 60 miles.
True adoration...a grandaughter walking for her grandmother and being able to hug her while on the route because she is beating this illness.  True joy...getting to eat dinner with my friend Lara who beat breast cancer last year before the walk.  True love...all of the names and faces on shirts who are no longer with us but we walk for them so others might not have to fight this monster.

I have made some incredible friends on this journey and I have brought along my best friend, made her walk right beside me for 4 years :-)  We can't imagine not doing it, until God decides to move us on to another mission field, this is where you will find me every November.

I encourage you to check out this amazing event.  Or even check out the Avon 2 day walk.  Or the American Cancer Society Making Strides walk.  Each one of us has been affected by breast cancer in one way or another...ourselves, our family, our friends.  You don't have to be an athlete to do these things, you just have to have the heart, the will and the want to serve and help fight the battle!

Thank you if you purchased one of our team t-shirts this year to help us raise our money!  We will have new shirts for sale in the upcoming months :-)  Gettin' ready for 2013 ya know!

Book Review - Soul's Gate and IPad MINI Giveaway!!

Soul's Gate was not what I was more.  This book not only stretched my imagination but gave me many spiritual reminders of who God truly is and just how unlimited He is.

Reece Roth has been commissioned to train 4 team members, spiritual warriors who will change the world.  He is to teach them from his mistakes and his knowledge.  Dana, Brandon, Marcus and Tamara set out to meet Reece at Well Springs Ranch.  They are warned that the enemy will begin attacking them from day one and one of them won't make it to the ranch.  For those who make the journey, God begins to move in more amazing and visual ways than they ever dreamed could happen. They learn how to enter another person's soul to help free them from spiritual strongholds.

Each team member faces their own personal spiritual battle during the story in which the others must enter their souls to help free them from regrets, anger and other sins keeping them from living the life Jesus desires for them.  They learn that the enemy is not only scary but tough; however they also learn that with God, the enemy is conquerable.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait for #2 in the series.  The characters are well written and easy to like.  Each one is so different, yet you felt for them all.  As I mentioned above, the author gave me many spiritual reminders of who God is..."Reece raised his head to the sky, 'You are life. We need it. You are freedom. We long for it. You are truth. We have to have it....' "  And many other scripture references that were encouraging.  I highly recommend this book to any reader, especially a reader who can enjoy something a bit past our normal imaginings.  Wonderful read.

About the Book:
Book 1 in the Well Spring series.
"Every now and then we get a break from reality. A glimpse into the other world that is more real than the reality we live in 99 percent of our days. The Bible is about a world of demons and angels and great evil and even greater glory."
What if you could travel inside another person's soul? To battle for them. To be part of Jesus healing their deepest wounds. To help set them free to step boldly into their divinely designed future.
Thirty years ago that's exactly what Reece Roth did. Until tragedy shattered his life and ripped away his future.
Now God has drawn Reece out of the shadows to fulfill a prophecy spoken over him three decades ago. A prophecy about four warriors with the potential to change the world . . . if Reece will face his deepest regret and teach them what he has learned.

They gather at a secluded and mysterious ranch deep in the mountains of Colorado, where they will learn to see the spiritual world around them with stunning clarity-and how to step into the supernatural.
Their training is only the beginning. The four have a destiny to pursue a freedom even Reece doesn't fully fathom. But they have an enemy hell-bent on destroying them and he'll stop at nothing to keep them from their quest for true freedom and the coming battle of souls.
